I am now the new Nokia N81 8GB a few days and I have yet to be decided what I think about it honestly. It has looked good, and the display is very good, as always the latest versions of Nokia, but it is a bit heavy, it feels “plastic” and a total of a little cheap. The camera is also slightly down, relax.
I had my eye on this unusual looking music phone because it has both Wi-Fi and 3G, so better on paper than it seemed an option for Sony-Ericsson W910i (see article in this model) and looking for alternatives to Watch iPhone. Aspect of the game is to raise my interest a bit.
Signed in games, the N81, there are several games for Nokia N-Gage Web site and more being added all the time. In most games you can play the landscape, namely the dedicated gaming keys at the top (if the phone is upright) on the screen actually receive the money and offer a very nice user interface. Player supports and compliments the normal options to search music by playlist, song, artist or album and the sound quality is better than many other music phones out there. I found a third 5mm jack very useful, because I can use it to connect your headphones and just use what I got the package. I also liked a built-in speakers are much better sound quality than most phones I tested recently, they are not “suck” sound I’ve noticed elsewhere.
N81 is also the benefit of the fact that the battery very good, especially Nokia. I have a few good days and normal phones use music and games, and download a few songs before the battery ran completely. If we go back to the games, the quality of what you get (even though they start from the demos) is a big leap in the normal games you expect on a telephone. Seeing a real 3D game than FIFA 07 was impressive, though understandably, can not wait for the PS3 graphics. Two separate gaming keys light up only during the game and make it much easier than a normal phone.
The disadvantage phone is really not easy to keep (playing time is an exception). There are too many buttons below the screen, and it is very easy, the wrong type, or scroll to the contact with the menus. I remember when I mentioned that the speakers are a little louder? Believe me, nothing is more embarrassing than the Gary Glitter tune suddenly at full cry in front of commuters, or (worse) for pupils – Scary.
The new Navi wheel I think it is very disappointing. The idea that it can be used either in the D-pad or the Navi-wheel makes a lot of sense, but it is not easy to implement in the right way. Fortunately, you can turn off the bike, which appear in the two systems are often confused.
Overall, it is very colorful mix and it is difficult to make a decision N81. Department of the game is undoubtedly the most important feature, and the camera is not worse than the iPhone or W910i, but if it is clear the user experience behind the iPhone in particular (but not so close to everything else). The sound quality is very good, but it is just shows that Nokia is not fully compatible with Sony Ericsson to the party. As far as I am concerned, does not easily go bad and good ease of use is paramount. While the N81 is not a bad phone, there are better alternatives.
