First, I do not think that even in this book. I only have the PDF version of it. I can only, which plans to buy to say stay away from this book if you are over 16 in my opinion, this book is for young people, or the first steps in modeling and animation software for games with the package of 3ds Max for. I am an experienced 3D modeler and animator. If you're like me, or if at least one intermediate 3D modeler / animator in the art and wants to play, brake, go buy the book 3ds Max Modeling for Games: Insider's Guide to Game Character, Vehicle, and Environment Modeling by Andrew Gahan. I bought this from Amazon. com and in my opinion, is a book of 5 stars. However, if it all about learning the software modeling and animation for games with 3ds Max, then we give a 3ds Max Modeling for Games course at the Institute try to play ([..]). They are more expensive than books, but are much wider and a great value! Cheers, Cristiano

I was very much about the release of this book, I know of no other book out there in the first place to character modeling in 3D Studio Max for UT2004 but I must say, I was generally treated with the techniques in this book and disrupted the ignorant author (for example, from a glimpse of at least – I've seen enough), and this is why: Modeling: The author seems very little in terms of artistic ability anatomy of the model is ridiculous, and this can be seen from Its technology bizarre, convoluted and complicated the development of a knitted character "drawing" each corner then connect together (a total absurdity – the most successful 3D artists from primary or less as in the visual arts, and therefore in this work instruments with low poly), this technique is pre-and ill-advised because it is unnatural, time consuming and creates a terrifyingly bumpy non-biological systems I 'm open to different ways of doing things, but this is a great approach questionable to understand the creation of a model of character and certainly bad for those who advise, learn to model. Texturing: The author seems very little in terms of artistic ability that its procedures are to generate texture coordinates on the "mutant" is a character with a lot of anatomical techniques that can be a way to get the job done with zero refinement not are not representative of simple, modern innovative approaches to creating organic textures in 3D Studio Max (or about the use of the Pelt mapping gizmo exclusively for this purpose in 3DS for many years – how long ago the author has just written in this book? interpreted). I also believe that there are many ways to do things, but surely as this book recently, which seems to be, what is happening now. I can only assume that the author is an engineer who is a 3D artist. Not bad, but there are much more useful and timely information and tutorials for free on the Web, written by talented 3D artists who know what they're talking about individual experiences – no comment.

I have this book and enjoy this part. The book actually covers almost the entire process from concept (Concept Art) at the end manipulated (bipedal) character. It also shows how to bring character styles in UNREAL 2003, if you want to play like a pirate. If you can still learn in this book certainly contribute to your abilities. It goes deeper to explain why certain things you do and how they do it. The explanations are a great benefit for people who are still trying to understand the process. The example is this book that lacks potential. The model of concept art is used weak. This is a basic line drawing that you would expect from a 14-year-old. And this art reference inproportional you can go through the process of character creation. I believe that realism is what many people to shoot and the example is the lack of some of the realism. This book I would fight for anyone, that the process is still ahead of them need to send to tell the techniques that the book seeks to address any recommendations are important, but do not rely on examples to get a job.
