Help !! I’m on 3ds max 2010 and i can’t find ” show background “
#10 by vfxworld on July 27, 2010 - 9:14 pm
@StupidVids2009 click F10, there you can select a single frame to be rendered, the active timeline or a specific range. It’s the first pull out panel. I would prefer a .tga image sequence or a .jpg. yes, that takes some more HDD space but got a better quality.
#11 by StupidVids2009 on July 27, 2010 - 9:41 pm
i mean when i click render it only renders the selected frame and not the whole animation. will .avi have alpha channel?
#12 by vfxworld on July 27, 2010 - 9:53 pm
@StupidVids2009 what do you mean by “isn’t a sequence”? You can convert a .avi to .jpg_#### sequence..
#13 by StupidVids2009 on July 27, 2010 - 10:51 pm
ok its working. thanks! but i have another quick problem. (sry) mine isnt in a sequence u know how to fix that?
#14 by StupidVids2009 on July 27, 2010 - 10:52 pm
@vfxworld is there any other way, becuase that didnt work. btw u know how u have 2 bars at the top when u click F9? (where u had to click when u had the same problem as me, wrong viewport) i dont have that. how do i enable it to see it??
#15 by vfxworld on July 27, 2010 - 11:01 pm
@StupidVids2009 ye. Select the viewport you want to render as active viewport by simply clicking in it.
#16 by StupidVids2009 on July 27, 2010 - 11:19 pm
ok thx but now to view camera 1 i have to press F10 and click activeshade. is there any way to just be able to press F9 and view it every time??
#17 by vfxworld on July 28, 2010 - 12:12 am
@StupidVids2009 in your render menu (F10) you can set the viewport being rendered. If there is typed “front” choose the dropdown to “Camera01″ or so.

@gtaeXtremgamers Simply go to the bg settings (alt+b) and select your bg animation video again.

I don’t use maya.
but every program got a help document..
#22 by nekbeth on July 28, 2010 - 2:21 am
hello again, could you help me finding the background settings to tell maya its a video (image sequence). Thanks
#23 by nekbeth on July 28, 2010 - 3:14 am
Thanks, I will try on Toxik to compose it. I’m very new so I’ll see how it goes
.
#24 by vfxworld on July 28, 2010 - 3:23 am
well, the best thing to do is of course exporting with alpha channel and compositing in After Effects.
If you want to do it your way, check the background settings. If you have an image sequence, you might have to tell maya that it’s a video, not a photo.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Could yo help me? I tried to follow these steps on Maya, everything went ok, automatic tracking, exporting. but when I open in maya and play the movie… only the track points will follow along the camera (“‘The Movie will not play”) , so when I render.. only the object I place moved but the background movie stays still. I obviously missing something, could you or anybody help please.. thanks
